Miami is in for a special techno lovers’ treat this Valentine’s Day. Esteemed Berlin-based producer, DJ, and Wagon Repair label owner Konrad Black will throw down that night at Glass at the Forge. This exclusive South Florida performance comes on the first leg of Black’s debut 2009 U.S. tour and coincides with his taking the reins of the esteemed Watergate mix series. That’s a product of the eponymous Berlin nightclub where he holds a quarterly residence.

The Vancouver native boasts a unique signature sound — variously atmospheric and bass-driven — with roots in the drum ‘n’ bass worlds of Vancouver and London. Unlike many of his peers, who develop their own sound from within the somewhat limited minimal techno frame of reference, Black crafts productions that are a boundary-pushing progression of form and medium in contemporary European EDM. They stay true to their genre’s eclectic roots while helping to define its future.

The “Black Valentine” party will be hosted by the folks from Safe, who brought us some of the biggest names in international techno last year. Funktion One and Alejandro Sab, AKA Sabox, will hit the decks in support.
