Thanks to the Florida Marlins’ refusal to lose and the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies’ refusal to take hold of the division, the top of the NL East is a veritable mishmash of teams vying for first place. A hodgepodge, if you will. A jumble. A clutter. A big fucking mess. And that’s just the way the Marlins like it.
The Fish continue to prove that no lead is safe, no matter how deep into a game or far behind in the deficit the team finds itself. With Dan “The God of Thunder” Uggla and Hanley “Last Son of Krypton ” Ramirez leading the way, the Marlins have rallied to 31 come-from-behind victories, the most in the National League. Thanks to their penchant for hitting home runs in bunches in the eighth and ninth innings, Florida’s comeback kids are making a run for the playoffs against their more expensive rivals. The NL East is up for grabs. And the only thing Philly and New York should know from here on out is that no lead is safe. On Tuesday, the Fish host Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals at Dolphin Stadium. First pitch is at 7:10.
