We’re taking a wild guess that none of the brilliant minds behind the PetFit Mobile Tour has ever been a cat owner. It’s no problem getting a big slobbery dog to participate alongside you during a vigorous workout. But the kitties ain’t having it – they’re far too busy clawing the furniture and sleeping in weird yoga poses to commit to performing “curious cat curls” or “light cardio.” But the PetFit and Hill’s Science Diet folks have scary statistics that show some seriously out-of-shape furballs: 54 million overweight or obese cats and dogs in the United States. If your cat’s looking like Garfield, or your dog’s been enjoying too many Scooby Snacks, today’s your day to kick their tails into shape.
Leash your dog (or cat … good luck with that) and stop by the bus for free classes based on the People and Pet Fitness video featuring celebrity fitness trainer Gunnar Peterson. You can find out if Fido is fit or fat, register for the 2008 Hill’s PetFit Challenge, and snag free samples of Hill’s Science Diet today from 9 to 6, when the tour comes to rest at the St. Stephen’s Art & Craft Show, 2750 McFarlane Rd., Coconut Grove.
