Germany, Belgium, and the United Kingdom might be more renowned for their exports, but many of the islands in the Caribbean also know how to create a refreshing brew. Ale-heads can sample the varied flavors of the islands at Beer Hype, a festival that offers a guaranteed good time. “We’ll have Prestige from Haiti, Belikin from Belize, Carib from Trinidad, Bahamas has Kalik, and of course Jamaica has Red Stripe,” explains Vibez Entertainment event organizer Michael Young. The event is sponsored by the Guinness Carnival Pride World Tour, so visitors can enter a remarkable sweepstakes whose grand prize offers airfare and accommodations to carnivals in Trinidad, Jamaica, Toronto, and New York. Fans of girlie drinks have nothing to worry about, because all the flavors of Smirnoff Ice will be available alongside the rainbow spectrum of beers. This wildly popular event is celebrating its fourth anniversary, so expect a lively crowd of more than 3000 thirsty regulars tonight at 10:00 at Bayside Hut, 3601 Rickenbacker Cswy., Key Biscayne. Tickets cost $25 in advance, $35 at the door. Call 786-237-4517, or visit www.beerhype.com.
