For foodies, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival is like Mardi Gras, Thanksgiving, and the Oscars, all rolled into one 96-hour binge-eating/drinking/swagging soiree. From Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain to Tyler Florence and Bobby Flay, the biggest names in celebrity chefdom will hit our beach with cocktails in one hand, sharp knives in the other. Anything is possible at this cornucopia of comestibles. As Anne Burrell herself has said, it’s like “spring break for chefs.” But don’t fret. There’s a place for the common man too — for a price. The seemingly never-ending menu of events includes selections like a film screening and Q&A with Anthony Bourdain, a Martha Stewart-led tribute to Nobu Matsuhisa and Christophe Navarre, a barbecue with Paula Deen and sons, a brunch with Bobby Flay, and the main course, the Grand Tasting Village. There, 70,000 attendees armed with swag bags will eat and drink their way across the beach — no cup unturned, no sample untasted. An event this huge requires training, so we hope you’ve started your stomach-stretching sessions.
