It’s not uncommon to live around or next to a waterway in South Florida, but don’t let that make you take the Sunshine State’s amphibious way of life for granted. Get your toes back in the water — both figuratively and literally — by getting a canoe and joining Sunday’s Coral Gables Waterway Canoe Tour, presented by the Coral Gables Museum (285 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables).
Coral Gables Museum and EcoAdventures staff members will lead you through the Coral Gables Waterway, the area’s manmade canal system. This adventure will be highlighted by historical landmarks and natural beauty. Participants will also be given free admission to the museum’s current exhibit, “Water Is Life,” before the canoe trip.
Safety is enforced. Two adults are allowed in each canoe. One child, 6 years of age or older, can join as a third passenger. The museum recommends bringing at least two quarts of water per person and sun protection (sunblock, hats, sunglasses). Closed-toe shoes are required.
