It’s not a secret that Canadians love South Florida. Every time you are stuck behind some idiot on I-95, it’s almost a guarantee that their license plate says Je me souviens. Still, our neighbor to the (way up) north have given us plenty reason not to invade them by the way of music.
Chromeo, MSTRKRFT, Tegan and Sara, Hot Hot Heat, Junior Boys, Peaches, Feist, Crystal Castles, Leonard Cohen — all Canucks! Surprising, isn’t it? Well, get yourself some Canadian music education at The Eh Team this Friday at Cafeina. The party is the brainchild of Canadians-turned-Miami-residents Sasha Lauzon and Michelle Leshem, who DJ as a duo under the name Ess & Emm.
The girls haven’t been DJing for long (at least publicly), but they’ve already had guest spots at places like the Vagabond and Bardot, so you aren’t going to hear two novices pretending their DJs, either.
Leshem, who is also the woman behind Supermarket Creative, says the idea is to introduce music from the Canadian underground, as well as play some of the old favorites. Eventually, she hopes to book Canadian artists to perform at the party as well.
