Charlie Crist hasn’t officially announced his candidacy yet, but with Alex Sink deciding to forgo another run, there’s a good chance he’ll be the Democratic candidate for governor in 2014. And, if this latest Public Policy Polling survey is any indication, there’s a good chance he’ll be governor once again.
Crist leads Republican Gov. Rick Scott by double digits.

The poll surveyed 579 registered voters between September 27 and 29 with a margin of error of 4.1 percent.

Crist leads Scott 55 to 38 percent. Scott picks up 21 percent of Republican voters, and a strong 57 percent majority of independent voters. Crist has lead among men, women, moderate voters, all age groups and all races (including a narrow one percent lead amongst white voters).
The poll also finds Christ has a 43/43 favorability split, which isn’t stellar, but is much more impressive than Scott’s underwater 33/55 approval rating.
State Sen. Nan Rich, so far the only announced Democrat in the race, has little name recognition. She trails Scott by just one point in 37/36 statistical tie.
