(sturgeon: It’s what’s for dinner)The Slow Foods Glades to Coast Chapter, which covers roughly the Palm Beach and Broward areas, is hosting a 5-course Growers’ Discovery gourmet dinner at Cafe Boulud in Palm Beach this Thursday, December 11, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The dinner, overseen by chef Zach Bell, is pricey at $125 per person (that includes wine pairings, tax and tip), but the menu sounds intriguing. In keeping with the locavore bent of Slow Food, Bell has sourced sturgeon from the Mote Marine sturgeon aquaculture project in Sarasota — the focus of the Mote project is to develop sturgeon aquaculture in Florida, for fish and caviar, to help relieve pressure on the endangered Caspian sturgeon. There will also be a trio of lamb from Deep Creek Ranch in DeLand, and lots of local vegetables and fruits from Swank Farms, Palm Beach Groves, and Walter Ross. $25 of your tab goes to the Slow Foods GTC, of course, to help support their community projects. To reserve, call 561-655-6060.–Gail Shepherd
