95. Lobster Roll at Joe’s Stone Crab Take-Away

Joe’s Stone Crab Take-Away has long been one of the Beach’s best stops for quality food-to-go. Reason: Consistently fresh, delicious food, and some of the finest sandwiches in town. Yet even among these praiseworthy sandwiches, none is as satisfying as the lobster roll.

The substantial bun — not a flimsy hot dog roll — is buttered, lightly griddled, and generously overflowing with chunks of lobster meat tossed with minced celery, salt and pepper, and lemon-tinged mayonnaise. That’s it. No cheap filler. A stack of homemade potato chips gets served alongside. Price is $15.95, which is expensive for a sandwich, but cheap for a bonafide gastronomic thrill.
