Food trucks and car washes might not be the first match that pops into your head, but Kendall Car Wash owner Larry Saks thinks it’s a great idea.
His business on Kendall Drive between Dadeland Mall and Town & Country Shopping Center is the location of the Wednesday-evening roundup, which has recently grown.
At first Latin Burger was the only truck, serving food at lunchtime. Others followed suit, and now there are more than a half-dozen trucks dishing out chow from 6 to 10 p.m.
Saks distributed car wash coupons and flyers in the past, but now that spring is here, he plans on staying open later — until around 8 p.m. — so people can get both a clean car and a snack. The wash should have extended hours beginning next week.

Cauley Square’s first Food Truck Party last week was a success. This is the farthest south the trucks have traveled. The Square has many winding paths for strolling, tables, and live music. A beer and wine garden is open for food truck patrons. Cauley’s many eclectic shops — including an aviary, an aquarium, and several galleries — remain open during the party. Trucks serving from 5:30 to 10 p.m. include Aaron’s Catering Express, Wing Commander, Dolci Peccati Gelato, Giuseppe’s Italian Sausage, Kona Ice, the MexZican Gourmet, Caza Crepes, Churro Mania, and Chef on 4 Wheels. 22400 Old Dixie Hwy., Miami
