David Llama Lopez, 46, has been arrested and is being held without bond as police investigate a scheme in which he allegedly tried to sell North Miami Senior High School students into sex slavery.
Yesterday, the State Attorney’s Office Human Trafficking Unit, Miami-Dade Schools Police, and a SWAT team all converged on a 15th-floor apartment just off Biscayne Boulevard and 125th Street where Lopez lives with his brother to search the home and ultimately arrest him.
The SWAT team had to be called in after Lopez barricaded himself in the apartment for several hours, but he eventually surrendered peacefully.
According to NBC Miami and CBS Miami, Lopez tried to lure two teen girls from the school into a human-trafficking plot where they would ultimately be forced to perform sexual acts for money. Little else about the plot is known at this time.

“Those who think they can make a living by selling our children to the highest bidders had better think again. Our community is united with our police departments to end this awful, awful trade,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in a statement.
Lopez faces charges of human trafficking, procuring a person under 18 years for prostitution, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
