Certain corners of the South Florida economy depend on a steady supply of new fake breasts, but spending on plastic surgery dropped 20 percent last year.
America shelled out only $10.5 million on nips and tucks in 2009, down from $13.2 million in 2007. The number of actual surgeries performed dropped 30 percent in the same time frame.
Getting a pair of fake knockers is still the most popular form of plastic surgery in America, but even those have fallen by 22 percent. Which might be the same percent your boobs drooped in the same time.
Smaller procedures such as Botox and Restylane injection are on the rise, with a modest 4 percent increase from 2008 to 2009.

However, cosmetic procedures performed on men are actually on a rise, up 8 percent since 2008. The most popular choices for dudes were liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, male breast reduction, and hair transplants.
The culprit is of course the recession, but the news isn’t likely to help important local industries such as Internet porn, nightclub cocktail waitressing, and the stripping.
