With the Miami-Dade County Commission likely to set a special election for a new mayor today, the Latin Builders Association has already made plans to hold the first debate on March 25 with only a select group of candidates: Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina, County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez, and Marcelo LLorente. Left off the battle: Luther Campbell.
Maybe the LBA is skittish about what the former 2 Live Crew front man may say to the trio of establishment candidates. We certainly know Campbell is not afraid to call em like he sees em. “They ain’t ready for me,” Campbell says. “They want to make it seem like there is only three candidates running in this thing.”
Campbell may just go ahead and crash the party, which is being held at the Big Five Club, 600 SW 92nd Ave., at 1 p.m. this Friday, in case any of his supporters and fans want to tag along.
Or better yet, voters can call the LBA at 305-446-5989 and LBA President Noelia Moreno at her business, Moralmar Kitchen Cabinets, 305-556-1520, to let her know that Uncle Luke and other candidates for the special election deserve to communicate their platform alongside Robaina, Gimenez and Llorente.
