Pre-season buzz seems higher than it has in years for the Miami Hurricanes, but apparently that buzz wasn’t loud enough to convince the voters in USA Today‘s coaches poll to slip them into the top 25. The Canes just missed the cutoff, but did receive enough votes to put them at the equivalent of 27th.

The poll finds Alabama at the top followed by Ohio State and Oregon.

Clemson is the only ACC team in the top ten at 8th place, while FSU finds themselves at 12th. No other ACC teams made the cut.

Miami received 101 votes, which is 34 less than 25th place Oregon State got. The team also got more votes than Virginia Tech’s 65, which lends more evidence to the argument that they’re expected to win the ACC Coastal Division and make the ACC championship game this season for the first time since the team joined the division.
