It’s been a little more than a year since North Miami Beach residents accused Mayor Myron Rosner of abusing his official position to sidestep the city’s zoning and building regulations when he added a room and a pool to his residence and made other home improvements.

It looks like Rosner will finally have to defend himself before the Miami-Dade ethics commission, which last week denied his request to dismiss two separate complaints against him. New Times reported last April that while Rosner was a councilman, he was able to obtain permits without seeking the required variances from the city council.

The paraplegic mayor, who denies the allegations, has had a rough first year in office.

In addition to the ethics charges against him, he was involved in a public spat with the Walt Disney Co. this past December when park officials at Animal Kingdom and Epcot Center allegedly demanded he ride his high-tech wheelchair on four wheels instead of two.
