Thousands are expected to show up at Bayfront Park this weekend for a planned hometown rally to remember slain 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. U.S. Congresswoman Frederica Wilson is organizing the rally, and Rev. Jesse Jackson and singer Chaka Kahn are scheduled to attend.

Gates will open at 1 p.m. on Sunday, and the event will start at 4 p.m. It will end three hours later.

Among the others planning to attend: Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, as well as Miami City Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones, Rep. Corinne Brown, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), Florida Rep. Cynthia Stafford, Miami-Dade Commissioner Barbara Jordan, singer Betty Wright, and actress JoMarie Payton.

Several smaller gatherings have taken place in Martin’s hometown, including several protests and rally at high school, but Sunday’s event is shaping up to be the biggest yet.
