A Florida Sheriff’s deputy has been placed on suspension with pay after making insensitive comments on Facebook in the wake of civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.
“Damn cockroaches! Squashem all !!!! I say we rally for Wilson, who’s with me?” wrote Detective Richard Moon of the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Department on his Facebook page.
Moon will remain on suspension pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
“Very insensitive remarks have been made and we’re going to get to the bottom of it,” Sheriff Charlie Creel told the Tallahassee Democrat. “I don’t condone these kinds of actions. We treat everybody equally, and if somebody does not treat somebody equally, I will discipline them.”

Several of Moon’s co-workers in the department commented on the post, though none have been suspended.
One of those deputies also shared a political cartoon that has also made its way around Twitter:
That deputy told the Democrat that he didn’t have any problems with peaceful protestors, but rather with people who commit violence during protests. That deputy has not been suspended.
The move comes in the wake of several internet activists taking action against people for making racist comments on social media by informing their employers of the comments.
