No, this is not a joke, and you’re not reading The Onion. There is actually a cultural nonprofit in Miami that is looking for applicants for a full-time position. If I had professional-grade fireworks, I’d be launching them off the roof of the Miami New Times building right now. Instead, I have just this blog. (Pause for moment of self-reflection and regret.)
But remember, if you land this job, it doesn’t absolve you from supporting the effort to get the $11 million for cultural programming back onto the county budget.

The ideal candidate must have excellent communication/people skills and lot of positive energy — very important. You will be working in a growing arts institute and have the potential to advance as the organization expands. This is a great opportunity for a college graduate in business, accounting and/or arts administration. Candidate must also have organizational skills & advanced use of Microsoft Office Programs and QuickBooks required. Passionate about arts and arts education would be very helpful. Starting pay is $8 per hour during a probationary period (with regular increases thereafter. Note: This position is likely to pay $15 per hour after a few months on the job). Office hours are Monday through Friday between 12pm and 7pm.
We are also looking for college students for Internships in business: administration, fundraising, marketing, accounting, etc. and in several arts programs including Theater, Dance & Music. College credit available.
