Brickell is no longer just the largest concentration of international banks in the United States. As one of Miami’s fastest-growing neighborhoods, the area just south of downtown draws many people to live, shop, eat and, or course, drink.
Brickell Fest looks to take advantage of the area’s growing popularity with a series of holiday celebrations, beginning with Saturday’s free inaugural Cinco de Mayo celebration. It will last from noon to midnight in the parking lot located at 1001 S. Miami Ave.
“We are really excited about working with businesses and members of the community to put together a celebration everyone can enjoy,” says Dina Davis, marketing director for Vitamin C Communications.
The Cinco de Mayo celebration will feature various beer and tequila stands, a number of food choices, crowd-pleasing games, live mariachi performances, mini luche libre wrestling, and even a mechanical bull across the street from El Vato Taco & Tequila Bar. Promotional partners and affiliates include New Times, Blue Martini, Y-100, Miami.com, Corona Extra, and 1800 Tequila. More than 2,500 people are expected to attend this first Brickell Fest. Vitamin C Communications and Brickell Fest will hold other holiday celebrations near Mary Brickell Village, centered around that lot on Miami Avenue. Davis expects to see between two and four events a year organized by the group — around Halloween, the Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve, and the Super Bowl.
