I just got off the phone with a manager at Talula. Earlier this morning, a reader wrote the following into our comments section:

I guess they were lying about not being for sale, because their PR person

just emailed me when I requested a reservation that they just sold the

restaurant and are relocating. Here is the text of the email:

Hello there, Tim!

Thank you for your inquiry, but we are no longer taking reservations.

We have just sold the restaurant and will be relocating. I really

apologize for the inconvenience. If you were looking to see Chef Andrea

by chance, she is at The Water Club heading the kitchen operations

there. We look forward to hopefully having you in our new location. Thank you

again for your time and patience on this matter. Cheers,

New Times: Are you closed?

Manager: It looks that way.

$30,000

So the answer is yes?

Not until all the paperwork is completed. Right now we’re closed for renovation and cleaning and if the deal falls through we’ll reopen. But it looks like we have a very good offer on the table that makes sense. But I don’t have any information yet. Right now the staff is still around, there’s food in the fridge and everything else. Until the press release goes out, nothing is in stone. There’s nothing to be quoted or printed or anything yet because it could just be a deal gone sour and we reopen.

Can I ask who I’m speaking with?

I’m a manager, but I will not disclose who I am. So whatever you quote won’t be accurate because you don’t know who you’re talking to.
