Authorities have just confirmed that a third victim has died in yesterday’s garage collapse at Miami-Dade College’s West Campus in Doral.
Samuel Perez, a 52-year-old construction worker, was trapped below his knees. Rescue workers had to amputate both of his legs in order to free him around 1 a.m. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital but died around 4 a.m.
Forty-eight-year-old Carlos Hurtado de Mendoza and 60-year-old Jose Calderon also died in the collapse.
Nine other workers were transported to the hospital for treatment yesterday, and two were treated on the site.

One worker is still unaccounted for and feared dead. Rescue workers have not been able to find his body, but rescue dogs have alerted them to a place where his body might be trapped. Blood was found near the area.
