A Miami-Dade cop charged with protecting citizens now finds himself on the other end of the law for endangering and injuring two of our youngest citizens.
Officer Ryan Robinson, 41, was arrested on Saturday night for drunk driving after he struck a shopping cart with two children inside in a parking lot. The cart tipped over and the two children, aged 3 and 6, suffered facial injuries.
The incident occurred on Saturday at the Old Cutler Town Center at 20425 Old Cutler Rd. at about 8:20 p.m. Robinson was driving through the parking lot when he hit a parked vehicle. Instead of pulling over, Robinson decided to try and back up and leave the scene.
While backing up he struck a shopping cart with Meah and Geah Garcia inside. The cart tipped over, and the girls fell face forward on the asphalt.

Robinson was off-duty at the time and driving his own 1997 GMC truck. Miami-Dade police officers arrived and noted his breath smelled of alcohol and his eyes were watery and bloodshot. He agreed to a roadside sobriety test, but was arrested. He refused to take a breathalyzer test.
He was charged with one count of DUI, two counts of DUI with property damage, and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injuries.
