Bobby Ramos Proved the Heat Will Give Press Credentials to Anyone (Except Us)

The Miami Heat won’t let us, your dutiful local alt-weekly, anywhere near the team (to the point they wouldn’t even let us interview a super-fan in a banana costume one time), but apparently they let just about anyone else with a press badge into post-game press conferences during the Finals.

Somehow a guy named Bobby Ramos, apparently a host of a radio show called Bottomline in Connecticut, was credentialed for last night’s press conference. He then proceeded to fire off longwinded, non-sensical questions that left coach Erik Spolestra and star Dwyane Wade and LeBron James absolutely flummoxed.

Ramos first got to address Spo, and asked, “Coach, you gave San Antonio the credit, and you mentioned a couple times that you’re in The Finals. How does a team in their fourth Finals come out in The Finals, their first home game and get beat to the ball to get stomped the way they did? The kind of heart that your championship team has, to come out tonight like they did mentally has to be something that’s a problem.”

Spo’s response: “Clearly.”

Yes, clearly losing last night’s game was something that’s a problem.

Later on Ramos then got another chance to address Wade and James, and asked, “This is for both of you, you have a great defense. They’re averaging 104 points a game. You have a lot of offense, you haven’t broken a hundred yet. Is the problem your lackluster defense or is it the problems you’re having offensively, lackluster offense?”

Hard-hitting question. The team has a “great defense” that is also a “lackluster defense” and also has a “a lot of offense” that also is a “lackluster offense.” How do you explain that, hmmm?

James just laughed and passed the question onto Wade.

But hey, Ramos never called owner Micky Arison a “greedy corporate pig18 years ago, so apparently he can have all the access to the team he wants.

Probably because he was to busy with his male modeling career back then.
