ArtCenter/South Florida, that trusty cultural oasis on Lincoln Road, is looking for more artists. The 25-year-old nonprofit sent out a news release this week advertising its short-term residency program, which is different from its three-year, juried residency program.
“The short-term residency program is great for artists looking to try out the ArtCenter without the commitment of three years,” Director of Exhibitions Jackie Arnette says.
Admission to the three- to six-month studio residency is on a rolling basis, so there’s no deadline to worry about — whenever you feel like getting out of your mom’s basement, send in the application.
Besides the publicly accessible studio space in an area of high-volume walking traffic, resident benefits include free use of print and dark rooms, exhibition opportunities, access to art patrons, and one-on-one studio visits with critics, curators, and gallerists.

ArtCenter has 47 workspaces, ranging in size from 167 to 572 square feet. The rents range from $250 to $700, depending on size and placement.
