This Saturday, take Romero’s smiling cats and geometric flowers to Artformz Alternative Gallery and rip them to shreds. You read that right. It’s time for BYOB — Bring Your Own Britto to Destroy. If you stopped by the Wynwood gallery during last Saturday’s art walk, then you witnessed the Art of Destruction installation by Randy Burman shred art by Warhol, Davinci, and Cindy Sherman.
Considering this summer’s performance art project to barf-bomb all the Britto sculptures in Miami as well Natalie O’Neil’s feature on who exactly creates Britto’s work, is he too easy of a target? Is it wrong to pile on top of him like this is some drunken brawl on Bad Girls Club Miami? It does feel a little too easy to take a shot at him these days. But as long as his pop art saturates our fine city, we’re game for little BYOB destruction. A little purging is good for the soul.
Plus, the gallery admits it’s all in good fun. There’s even a giant
manifesto stating “Old art must die in order for new art to be born.”

This Saturday’s party turns it’s bulls-eye towards all bigwigs in the Miami art scene. In
addition to the destruction of the work of fro-licious Britto, MOCA director
Bonnie Clearwater, gallerist Fredric Snitzer, and artist Hernan Bas will
also get their smiling mugs torn to pieces. It’s part of the current
exhibit “3,” which deals in issues of consumerism, beauty, and greed as well
notions of good art. You can see “3” until November 29.
