The last time the Miami Heat faced off against the San Antonio Spurs, they ended up drenched in champagne and passing the Larry O’Brien trophy around the home locker room in the belly of the American Airlines Arena (701 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). This time, it’s only the preseason, and appearances by the team’s three superstars — LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh — are likely to be brief. Michael Beasley and Greg Oden probably won’t even make appearances, which means lots of playing time for Roger Mason Jr. and Joel Anthony. But who cares? Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and all-time-great forward Tim Duncan said last year’s finals mentally broke them so badly they didn’t think about basketball for the whole off-season. So it’s time for fans to boo and jeer them into the fetal position in the corner of the hardwood — you know, where they belong. This Saturday, drive the Spurs crazy and watch the defending champions fill out their roster. There are only two more games till the season officially begins, and tickets won’t be quite so easy to get.
