The controversy over same-sex marriage has clearly inspired Poseidon and the Bitter Bug, the Indigo Girls‘ first independently released album in two decades. The fierce track “Love of Our Lives” points an accusatory finger at the passing of Proposition 8 in California while also celebrating the “new revolution” that has brought so much change for gay men and women in this country. Also, the R&B-esque “Digging for Your Dream” encourages listeners to really go after what they believe in, whatever that might be.
For their upcoming South Florida stop this Thursday at the Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall, expect Amy Ray and Emily Saliers to showcase tunes from Poseidon and the Bitter Bug alongside favorites such as “The Power of Two,” “Galileo,” and “Closer to Fine.”
