Kind of folky, a little bit country, and totally embracing the indie spirit, Deblois is a local up-and-comer you might have missed. About to embark on her first tour, Deblois will be rockin’ Transit Lounge with her acoustic sounds tonight (from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) before hitting the road with her twelve year old dog Lucky. “We’ll be camping and touring until we’re broke,” she says. The Southeastern tour “is about seeing old friends but also about playing rooms that will open doors to other, bigger rooms.” Although Deblois has been performing covers ranging from the Indigo Girls to Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” her newly released record, Leviathan, features nine original songs. “This is the first time that I’ve had a record that is radio ready,” she adds. With the huskiness of Sheryl Crow, the sultry poignancy of Beth Orton, and the comforting rhythms of Jack Johnson, Deblois will surely find her home in the folk friendly circuit. Admission is free.
