It is Memorial Day and we hope you have the day off. Maybe you are brave enough to fight the traffic heading to Miami Beach, where you will be rewarded with throngs of hoochies wearing tiny bikinis and balancing on five-inch platform espadrilles as their booties bounce to bumpin’ beats. Or you could continue the tradition of wake-and-baking and staying in your pajamas all day as you indulge in a John Hughes movie marathon complete with Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. If you feel the need to leave the house but want to remain in air-conditioned coolness, gather your geeky friends and drive up to the Museum of Discovery and Science/Blockbuster IMAX Theater. This weekend marks the opening of the new “Aliens: Worlds of Possibilities” exhibit, which features robotic creatures from outer space, a real hunk of Martian meteorite, an alien costume contest, and a hovercraft demo. Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call 954-467-6637 or 954-467-IMAX, or visit www.mods.org.
