If there’s one thing Miami does well, it’s sexy ladies. But if there’s another, it’s botanical gardens. South Florida is a lush, tropical paradise, with gardeners who’ve spent decades learning innovative new ways to show off its assets (kind of like a South Beach supermodel). But like a hot, high-maintenance girlfriend, it ain’t cheap to keep spaces like the 4.6-acres Miami Beach Botanical Garden (2000 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach) thriving. So to benefit the garden, why not eat, drink, and toast to green meadows this Thursday?
The sixth annual Taste of the Garden will gather foodies, gardeners, and the aesthetically inclined to nosh on food from 20 of South Florida’s finest eateries, plus wines, spirits, and micro-brews to match – all under the watchful eye of Mistress of Ceremonies Roxanne Vargas, NBC 6 news anchor.
Eats will include meatball sliders from The Café at Books and Books; braised short ribs in red wine with a horseradish parsnip puree from Essensia at the Palms; Carnitas de Puerco by Mercadito; chocolate mousse by Tosca; and all kinds of other tempting tastes. Jon Saxx will serenade garden-goers with tunes by saxophone. Between bites, attendees will also have the chance to win anything from a seven-day cruise on MSC to David Yurman diamond earrings in a silent auction.
