Next time you find yourself hankerin’ to catch a local sporting event, maybe you should consider soccer. Sure, the Marlins seem like the only thing going on these days. They’re in the middle of a pretty decent NL East race, and who doesn’t want to partake of the peanuts, Cracker Jack, and empty seats at LandWhatzit Stadium? But you’ll be taking a pretty sizable gamble that a biblical downpour will douse you and yours.
That’s why Miami FC Blues soccer might be a better bet. Yeah, they use only their damn feet. And yeah, some games end in ties, which can be infuriating. But the Blues can be an entertaining team to watch. Defender Cristiano Dias and forward Paulo Jr. were recently named the United Soccer League’s team of the week. And, hey, there are no rain delays. Ever. Suck on that, Marlins! This Sunday at 6 p.m., the Blues will take on the Vancouver Whitecaps at FIU’s University Park Stadium.
