It is the kind of name best said through clenched teeth and with a jutting jaw: Bunny & Chad. Handbag designer Rebecca Ryan, who was inspired by the “casual elegance of the style” of Cape Cod and Nantucket, “wanted the name to capture the resort lifestyle,” so she chose a moniker that would invoke images of a preppy New England couple. The UM grad left a job in finance to pursue her hobby of designing fun, casual purses. “I got tired of spending hundreds on the it bag,” says Ryan. So she began creating cute and casual carryalls made with printed cotton fabric and grosgrain ribbon ties. “I use a lot of fun colors and patterns,” she adds. The bags range in price from $68 for a small to $88 for a large. Meet the designer and pick up a new bag tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Gilded Hand, 165 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables. Call 305-442-1445, or visit www.thegildedhand.com.
