Every city has its preferred method of transportation. Portland is all about bicycles. Denver is chock full of Subarus. New York has its subway. Chicagoans love their el. But in Miami, it’s all about boats. Everyone wants to get to where they’re going (or just cruise around) by water. Rather than find a friend of a friend of a friend to take you on your weekend booze cruise, here’s a chance to buy one of your own — or just dream anyway. The South Florida Boat Show returns to the Miami Beach Convention Center (1901 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach) for its 20th year this Friday. The show features hundreds of powerboats from some of the world’s leading marine manufacturers. It’s the perfect opportunity to comparison-shop (or drool over) makes and models all under one roof. Items range from personal watercraft (like Jet Skis) and accessories to walk-arounds, cruisers, and even 40-foot center consoles. Insurance and financing will be available on site, and trades will be accepted.
