It’s been said Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez was forged from the fires of Mount Olympus out of a dash of scrap metal and the DNA of a fossilized mosquito that once bit Hercules. The man is sheer awesomeness and demigod rolled into one, a complete, otherworldly bad-ass whom baseball fans around the globe finally confirmed when they voted him as the NL’s starting shortstop for this past week’s All-Star Game. Clearly the face of the franchise, Hanley is more than a rising star. He’s established himself as the best shortstop in all of baseball. And not only has Han-Ram snatched that title from the Philadelphia Phillies’ Jimmy Rollins, but also he and the rest of the Marlins are about to snatch something else from J-Roll: the NL East lead. The Fish take on the Phillies this Thursday night at LandShark Stadium.
