Why did the gaggle of nuns cross South Dixie Highway? ¡Para ver a Nunsense — en español, mijita! The hit musical comedy written by Dan Goggin has seen a number of remakes and sequels since the first version blessedly appeared more than twenty years ago. (It is enough to make a pope worry about a new Reformation.) This time, however, the series about a group of wacky but lovable nuns is performed entirely in Spanish as Sorpresas(Surprises). David Chacon Perez directs Mirtha Medina (as Mother Superior), Marytrini, Vanessa Ria, Marisol Otero, and Nattacha Amador in the leading roles. Providing the music is the El Tumbao Orchestra, lead by Eduardo “Chaka” Napoles. Produced by Miguel Ferro, Sorpresas also features choreography by Roberto Rodriguez, vocal arrangements by Jorge Hernandez, and musical production by Jorge Arronte.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8:30 p.m.; Sundays, 5 p.m. Starts: June 9. Continues through June 30
