For a city that is just about as far south as you can get in the U.S., Miami is curiously void of Southern drawls, Confederate flags, and square dancing. The only cowboy boots in these parts are diamond-encrusted designer brands. There are plenty of young bucks and pretty fillies ready to be tamed and ridden, but not in the equestrian sense. If you’re searching for cowboys a little more authentic than the ones at LaBare, then keep trotting south to the Homestead Sports Center, where you can chew your tobacky and spit like a man. Country Night Thursdays is a haven for displaced desperadoes, with free line dancing classes at 7:00 and country music provided by DJ Leroy at 8:00. Visitors can enjoy drink specials and free admission all night. Call 786-243-9822, or visit www.myspace.com/homesteadsportscenter.
