Panther fans can breathe easily now that Olli Jokinen — who is highly ranked among the franchise leaders in points, goals, and assists — has signed a four year contract extension. Recently named NHL’s Offensive Player of the Week after sweeping the conference leading Carolina Hurricanes at home, the 27 year old Cat was holding a career best 71 points and still riding high in the NHL scoring race at press time. You can expect Jokinen, as well as power players Joel Kwiatkowski, Jozef Stumpel, and Martin Gelinas, to provide a spectacular showing tonight when the Florida Panthers take on the playoff bound New York Rangers. Although they may have fallen to the Canes in their March 14 meeting, do not expect leading goalie Henrik Lundqvist, leading scorer Jaromir Jagr, and the rest of the mighty Rangers to let their guard down against the indefatigable Cats.
