St. Patrick’s Day is one of those blessed holidays, like birthdays. If it falls on a workday, you get to celebrate it not once, but twice. Well, it’s on a Wednesday this year, so save the nightlife drinking debauchery for then. Make Saturday for the festivals, for the family, for the Irish food.
At Huizenga Plaza and along Riverwalk to Riverfront, Fort Lauderdale St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival will offer too many eclectic opportunities to pass up. There will be sheep herding, hurling, and currach racing (currachs are Irish boats). And there’s more: Downtown Fort Lauderdale will be filled with classic automobiles, drum bands, and street performers.
