Parents are usually hard-pressed to get their teens to spend a Saturday afternoon at a museum, but today all of the cool kids will be at the Museum of Contemporary Art for Teen Day 2006. Hip young artists, photojournalists, and documentarians will be on hand to share their experiences and inspire participants with “Discover Art That Documents Life.” Students ages thirteen to eighteen are invited to participate in stimulating workshops in drawing and painting, video production, and even creative writing. The vibrant staff from MTV Latin America will offer teens the opportunity to perform in front of a green screen, or they can show their true colors in a “confessional booth.” The best videos and art pieces produced today will be featured on the MoCA and MTV Websites. How cool is that?
“We usually get about 400 or 500 kids out here,” says Valerie Ricordi, public relations manager. “Historically it has been a very successful event for us.” Don’t be left out; join the fun from 1:00 to 4:00. Admission is free for teens and their families. Call 305-893-6211, or visit www.mocanomi.org.
