There are too many hectic hotel parties on Miami Beach, all competing for your attention by offering louder music and more colorful cocktails. For that reason we say skip the done-to-deathness and enjoy a different sort of scene at the Standard. Every Sunday the bayfront spa retreat offers Love Life, a truly unique combination of hipsters, bingo, music, and art film.

“The idea is basically like family time. By integrating all of our spaces we give people a downtempo, fun thing to do on a Sunday night. We get a really rich, fun, bohemian group,” says Jason Harler, the hotel’s general manager, who came up with the concept. There’s a lot to do at the Standard on Sundays — attendees can play bingo and vie for cool prizes like spa treatments and museum memberships. Or you can bring your bathing suit and use all of the great pools outside for free. You can watch artsy films curated by Christian Rattemeyer and Cay Sophie Rabinowitz. The Poplife crew comes through, so you can groove to the music of DJs Induce and Matt Cash. And of course you can just sit by the water and have a drink — there are five-dollar Red Stripe specials, and house vodka cocktails cost seven bucks.
