It’s the beginning of festival season, and the weather is bright and pleasantly breezy. The temperature will find its way back to scorching before you know it. Now is the time to enjoy the great outdoorsy events that will be taking place throughout the city. Start today at the seventeenth annual Great Taste of the Grove. From 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Peacock Park will be aflutter with amazing food, decadent drinks, and live jazz. Some of the city’s finest restaurants will offer their cuisine, and luscious rum punch will be available at bars throughout the park. Each of the gastronomic whizzes will be having fun with a specific ingredient.
“Each year we’re going to introduce a tropical taste to the event. This year’s taste is coconut, and the chefs are getting creative with it,” explains event organizer Anne Johnson. If you yearn for more refined, less sweet flavors, stop by the newly opened Cefalo’s Wine Cellar (3540 Main Hwy.) for samples from its nitrogen-cooled Enomatic wine-serving system.
