The Miami Dolphins have been absolute road warriors this season. They’ve gone into hostile territory and won six out of seven games, including those played in Green Bay, Minnesota; Oakland; and New York. And yet, at home, their record has been abysmal. Is the really amazing weather to blame? Perhaps it’s the whole getting-to-sleep-in-your-own-bed-rather-than-a-hotel thing. Or maybe uncomfortable travel on airplanes and buses for hours on end is the ultimate motivator. Whatever the reason, the Dolphins have been unable to find their mojo at home. You can’t even take a game against a supposedly beatable team like the Detroit Lions, whom the Fins host this Sunday at Sun Life Stadium for granted. Sure, the Lions are trotting out their third-string quarterback, have no semblance of a running game, and are among the biggest all-time losers in NFL history. But we’re talking about Sun Life Stadium — the place where home-field advantage comes to die. Easily defeating a feeble opponent at home in front of the hometown faithful? Preposterous!
