At the Beautiful Villains Fashion Show, designer Lorie Lester’s friends and family (i.e., people of all shapes and sizes) will model her 2011 summer line. That way we get to enjoy her ’70s-inspired fabrics and silhouettes on bodies that look more like our own than a 12-year-old girl’s. Lester is a Miami-born-and-bred 27-year-old who not only designs her own clothing but also owns her own shop near the Design District.
At this week’s runway show, expect to see bare backs, interestingly placed cutouts, and high-waisted skirts paired with cropped tops, says Lester. Local garage rockers Jacuzzi Boys and the Haitian Hillbilly will provide music, while Ms. Cheezious, Zignum Mezcal, and Coruba Rum will bring the grub and cocktails. And for your inner teenage girl, there will also be a miniramp skateboarding contest. The free event takes place Thursday at the Stage.
