If you want to wile away your lazy Labor Day Sunday hunched over a smoky grill, so be it. But if you’d like to spend it noshing on culinary delights from some of the areas most celebrated chefs, head to the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club for the Sand Bake. From 5 to 8 p.m., Allen Susser of Chef Allen’s and Johnny Vinczencz of Johnny V will be two of nine chefs serving up tapas-style bites that are sure to beat your neighbor’s deviled eggs or those hockey pucks you like to call your “world-famous turkey burgers.” In this partnership with the SoFla chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food, all proceeds from ticket sales will go toward scholarships for local culinary students, so when you pony up $100 ($80 for AIWF members), you’re not getting just food and booze; you’re putting a down payment on future plates of amazing food. Call 305-663-9641 or email assnmgmt@bellsouth.net to reserve your seat.
