He’s the creation of Jeff Lindsay, a Miami-born writer whose novels Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter chronicle the life and crimes of this do-good serial slasher.

And Dexter is hitting the big time. Last night, Showtime debuted its new series, Dexter, based on Darkly Dreaming Dexter and starring Michael C. Hall of Six Feet Under fame.

“They filmed the pilot in South Florida,” says Florida Film Commissioner Paul Sirmons. “But that it’s. For the other episodes, they’ll just be here to film aerials and scenery shots.”
