Even if you’re not familiar with the music of the Martinez Brothers, you’re probably familiar with the sibling duo trying to convince TV viewers that BlackBerry is still a smart purchase in the wake of iOS and Android because, as the brothers put it, they need “tools, not toys.” Granted, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion probably cut Steve and Chris Martinez a nice check to say that slogan, and for good reason: From a young age, they’ve been inspiring people to dance to house music and earning the respect of clubgoers and fellow DJs alike. “How young?” you ask. Young enough that they weren’t allowed to vote let alone buy a drink. They’ve spun at every dance music mecca, including their hometown of New York, as well as Ibiza, Paris, London, Berlin, and, of course, Miami. And the Magic City will once again host the house music wunderkinds thanks to Space (34 NE 11th St., Miami), where the brothers, along with Louis Puig, will spin on the Terrace, while Filsonik and Maurizio Ruggiero take on dance-floor duties in the Techno Loft. Tickets cost $20 before midnight and $30 before 2 a.m. via wantickets.com. However, the chance to dance to house music until sunrise and argue with the Martinez Brothers about RIM’s lack of innovation is priceless.
