One full month into the NBA season, and what have we learned about the Miami Heat? LeBron James is still very, very good. He’s so good he’s averaging career highs in rebounds, three-point percentage, and giant receding-hairline-covering headbands. We’re just joking, LeBron, but seriously, you might want to consider switching to yarmulkes. Coming to town are the New Jersey, uh, Brooklyn Nets. Sure, there’s basketball to be played, even though the most notable aspects of the team are its celebrity associations (i.e., former Mr. Kardashian, forward Kris Humphries, and minority team owner Jay-Z). But these guys have some kick, particularly with a bloated payroll provided by team owner and Russian gangster industrialist zillionaire playboy Mikhail Prokhorov. All-stars Joe Johnson and Deron Williams lead a team that has a chance to make some noise in the Eastern Conference. But their only real chance of dethroning the champs is if Prokhorov announces he is, as we all suspect, the Russian Batman. The Nets face the Heat at American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 to $425. Call 786-777-1000 or visit heat.com.
