Second Saturday is back again, and this month we’re highlighting some happenings on the north side of I-195. As the Design District has added top-notch gallery spaces such as Bas Fisher, Spinello, and Locust Projects, Art + Design Night has become a must-stop for art lovers. For drunks and foodies though, it’s always been the destination of choice, thanks to free beverages in the Garden Lounge on 41st Street and the proximity of Michael’s Genuine, Sra. Martinez, Fratelli Lyon, and the new Mai Tardi in Oak Plaza (169 NE 39th St., Miami).

The main stop this month is at Locust (155 NE 38th St., Suite 100, Miami) for the opening of a solo show by New York artist Francesca DiMattio. Born in 1981, DiMattio has exhibited in Miami a few times before, but is currently represented by Salon 94 and has shown work at the super-prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London. The exhibition, like the art walk, is free and open between 7 and 10 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 14, 7 p.m., 2009
