What’s geekier than a roomful of music nerds? How about one where the half that isn’t slinging the vinyl is swinging to it in sci fi and alien garb? Hyperion Rhythms is an evening of electronic music with a slight difference: Science fiction is part of the fun. Tonight each of the club’s spaces will be dedicated to a different style of electronica performed by more than twenty artists. MC J Dubl will host a room awash in electro and drum and bass featuring Big Boy, KCIS, Shockwave, and Dagger. On the patio, trance and trip hop will rule the roost with the Raven, Love Sub, and Obsession. Funky breaks and hard trance from Animay, Soultry, Rabbit, Madhatter, and others will fill out the main room. Local legend Trip Theory, nationally known for its dramatic shows, headlines the evening. Tickets range from $6 to $15 depending on time of arrival, but you get $5 off for appropriate costume. Tripsters eighteen and older can get spacy at I/O Lounge from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Call 954-822-2043, or visit www.euphoriaproject.org.
Fri., Feb. 3, 9 p.m.
